Brewer's Dictionary of Phrase & Fable - "comprises over 18,000 entries that reveal the etymologies, trace the origins and otherwise catalog “words with a tale to tell.”
Digital Librarian: Mythology - this site is a serious list of links to mythology web pages. It has "see also" references to Classics and Ancient World, Electronic Texts and Religion and Philosophy. If you can not find a sufficient link somewhere on this site, you probably should stop looking.
Encyclopedia Mythica - a well-organized quick reference to gods and goddesses, legendary creatures and monsters from a wide range of world mythologies and folklore.
Encyclopedia of Greek Mythology (Part of Mythweb, Joel Skidmore) - students can search the INDEX for a name or do an actual search by a name they already have in hand. Results are short with the name, pronunciation key, a description and a photo.
Folklore and Mythology Electronic Texts (University of Pittsburgh) - edited and/or translated by D.L. Ashliman. An interesting miscellany of little-known tales; mostly oriental and Nordic.
Folklore, Fairy Tales, Mythology , and Customs (San Antonio College Library)
Humanities: World Mythology and Folklore (D. Rogenmoser, California State University, Saramento) - this site is excellent at showing students a large number of print titles indexed by subject. Most of these resources are available only through Interlibrary Load at Surry Community College. (Note: Please allow 2 weeks for receipt after completing an ILL request.) There are also some great web links!
Myth*ing Links (From Kathleen Jenks, Ph.D. Retired, Pacifica University) - "An Annotated and Illustrated Collection of Worldwide Links to Mythologies, Fairy Tales and Folklore, Sacred Arts, and Sacred Traditions." Please be patient and scroll down through this site to get to the really great links.
Mythology, Folklore, and a Little Bit of Religion (From Sarah's Web Page - Harvard) - in the author's own words, "Welcome! This page is essentially a massive list of links to sites about mythology, folklore, and religion. I've tried to sort them all by category, which has the advantage that it (theoretically, at any rate) makes it easier to find what you're looking for, but can lead to some pretty deeply nested subdivisions and also means that a lot of these pages do link to each other. There are links here to almost every relevant page I can find --"almost" because there are a few things I don't have here: pages not in English, usenet sites, urban folklore and cyberlore sites, or any pages relating to "Hercules" The Legendary Journeys."
Mythology, Legend, Folklore, & Ghosts
Myths and Legends (Christopher B Siren, originally housed on MIT server) - a vast collection of links to information and texts.
Special Topics in Folklore & Mythology (Author Unknown) - many links, not all working
World Myths and Legends in Art - (Minneapolis Institute of Arts) - "Myths are stories that explain why the world is the way it is. All cultures have them. Throughout history artists have been inspired by myths and legends and have given them visual form. Sometimes these works of art are the only surviving record of what particular cultures believed and valued. But even where written records or oral traditions exist, art adds to our understanding of myths and legends."
