Introduction The holdings of the Carlos P. Surratt Genealogy Room include family histories, state and local records, local and national newsletters, census records, maps, and many other materials of interest to those pursuing genealogy. Materials are available for several North Carolina counties as well as Virginia and Tennessee counties. Also available are state and national records. All materials may be viewed and/or copied by visiting the Surry Community College Library (R Building). Please check the catalog on the Library's main page to determine if there are materials available that are of interest to you. If traveling some distance, please call ahead to make sure the Library is open. The hours are posted on the Library's Web site and change periodically. The Journal of the Surry County Genealogy Association is published quarterly, is indexed, and contains transcripts and abstracts of county records as well as many othe items of genealogical interest.
