The Student Financial Aid Program is designed to assist deserving
students in meeting the costs of attending Surry Community College.
Financial assistance includes several types of aid: grants, scholarships,
loans, and student employment. Financial aid awards may include one
or more of these. Only students who have been accepted for admission
will be offered financial assistance. An enrolled student must reapply
in order to receive aid during the second year of attendance.
Anyone interested in financial aid information may contact the
Financial Aid Office which is located in Student Development. Application
packets are available which explain the opportunities and responsibilities
in more detail. All financial assistance is awarded without regard
to the student’s race, religion, national origin, age, sex,
or disability.
Surry Community College requires satisfactory academic progress
of all students receiving financial aid. Refer to the current college
catalog for details of the requirements for financial aid or visit
the Financial Aid Office located in the Reeves Building on campus.
(A copy of the current college catalog is available on the college
home page.)
Withdrawal from classes after aid is accessed can result in repayment
of aid to school. See college catalog on proper withdrawal procedures
to follow. The amount of Title IV aid that must be returned to
the school is based on the total amount of aid received and how
long the student attended classes. Sample repayment calculations
are available from the aid office. Students who maintain class
attendance through the 60% date of each semester will not owe a
repayment of aid.
Students who cannot meet financial aid deadlines or do not qualify
for financial aid may use the E-Cashier tuition payment plan. For
more information, click here.
Financial Aid deadlines are as follows:
Fall Semester --May 1
Spring Semester --October 1
Summer Semester --March 1
By the deadline, the aid applicant must have submitted to the aid
office a processed Student Aid Report, a SCC Application for Aid
form, and any supporting documentation as requested by the federal
government or the aid office.
