Nurse Aide Level I - 176 hours

The Nursing Assistant I student is prepared to provide personal care and perform basic nursing skills for the elderly and other adults. Emphasis is placed on:
  • The aging process
  • Patient’s rights
  • Nutrition
  • Safety and Infection Control Procedures
  • Restorative care
  • Structure and function of the human body, diseases and functions
  • Communication/documentation
  • Death and dying process
  • Role of the Nursing Assistant
  • CPR

Upon satisfactory completion of the CNA I course and the skills/ competency evaluation, the student will be listed on the North Carolina Division of Facility Services Nurse Aide I Registry.

Prerequisites: Each student must take a reading proficiency test prior to registration. This test may be taken at any of the learning centers at no cost to the student. For more information click Learning Centers.
