The Nursing Assistant I student is prepared to provide
personal care and perform basic nursing skills for the elderly and
other adults. Emphasis is placed on:

Safety and Infection Control Procedures

Structure and function of the human body, diseases and functions

Communication/documentation

Death and dying process

Role of the Nursing Assistant

CPR
Upon satisfactory completion of the CNA I course and the skills/
competency evaluation, the student will be listed on the North
Carolina Division of Facility Services Nurse Aide I Registry.
Prerequisites: Each student must take a reading proficiency test
prior to registration. This test may be taken at any of the learning
centers at no cost to the student. For more information click
